Homeroom Overview

When you log into Immerse on a VR headset, you will be your Homeroom space.

The Homeroom is divided into the following tabs for easy navigation and class sign up!

Home

  • My Progress

    • This is a visual representation of the learning journey using a dotted progress line and mile marker flags to represent the path to fluency and higher levels.

    • Pressing view units takes users directly to the Learning Path tab.

  • Recommended

    • If you are new, you will see: Getting Started Checklist

      1. Create your account

      2. Explore the Learning Path

      3. Take the Tutorial

      4. Edit your avatar

      5. Attend your first lesson

      Directions: Click on any of the steps to view that area of the Homeroom.

    • If you are a returning learner, you will see a possible combination of the following:

      • Tutorials - once completed they won’t appear here any longer

      • Live Events

      • Next class happening

      • Live Community Spaces (rotating hourly)

  • My Upcoming Lessons

    • This section will populate once you have booked classes in advance.

    • Pressing view schedule takes users to Learning Path > Schedule > Date

Learning Path

The Learning Path tab is divided into 2 main sections:

  • Units

    • Your Learning Path is structured with a combination of Language Functions (Units) and Skills (Learning Objectives). You will be able to view your unit specific progress on this Leaning Path view.

    • Under each unit you will find opportunities to practice on your own or book a class pertaining to that unit.

  • Schedule

    • Here you can view the schedule and book lessons in advance as well as see class details containing practice opportunities.

    • You will only be able to view classes for the fluency level you have selected.

Community

Immerse has spaces where you can meet other learners, attend social meetups, or practice on your own! The Community tab contains 2 main sections indicating areas that you can meet with others:

  • Public

    • Language Exchange - this is a public, all language Commons where you will be able to interact with any member of Immerse, regardless of the selected target language.

    • MeetUp Spaces - Each day, public scenes are rotated on an hourly schedule to encourage users to explore different areas, meet different people, and check back frequently to see if new scenes are being featured.

      • Meetup spaces are specific to your selected target language.

  • Private

    • Join with a code - If your friends have shared a code with you to enter their private room, you can enter it here. Codes will be all letters and automatically capitalize.

    • Create a Room - You can create your own private room by:

      1. Selecting a location / scene.

      2. Creating an code between 4 and 12 letters long.

        1. Number and special characters are not permitted.

      3. Pressing Create and Join.

      4. Share your code with friends so they can join you.

Community Note:

When joining any public space within Immerse, it is important to be friendly and respectful while abiding by the Community Guidelines. (A notification message will pop up when pressing Join each time).

Review

The Review Tab contains 2 main sections:

  • Past Classes - Classes previously taken are listed in chronological order (newest to older) based on the date of the session.

    • Hovering over the class tile will reveal the view notes option. This will open a new page where the following ADDITIONAL information will be displayed:

      • Instructor/Guide that facilitated the session

      • Location/Scene the session was held in

    • Notes sent by the Guide/instructor during class will be listed here

    • Choose which class notes to save permanently and add them by pressing the My Notes button

    • Once added to your notes, this option will be dimmed out

    • Press back to return to all past class tiles

  • My Notes - This is where you can view all of the notes you have permanently saved to "My Notes."

    • Notes are listed in chronological order, newest to oldest, by the date they were added

    • To remove a note, press the delete button (trash can) then confirm by pressing delete

Create Your Own Notes!

You can now create your own custom notes to save and have handy later.

  • Review > My Notes > + Create > Enter text > Save changes

  • 400 character limit per note

Additional Menu Icons

Settings

The Settings "Gear Icon" Tab contains 3 main sections:

  • Sound - this is a menu where you can configure your

  • Movement - where you can configure your navigation style and settings

    • Choose either teleport or slide movement.

    • Configure your comfort settings.

  • Display - configure visual and language UI settings

    • Change the display language of your app.

    • Turn on for helpful pointers of how to interact with the world around you!

Help

The Help tab is a resource tab that includes:

  • Tutorials - opportunities to practice controls and learn about Immerse

  • Controls - a visual review of the essential VR controls

  • Help Center - a clickable link to open a browser window to our Help Center.

Profile

Your Profile Icon tab has 3 main sections:

  • Overview - a place to see all of your main information, such as:

    • Avatar headshot

    • Name on account

    • Date of account creation

    • Number of Classes/Events attended

    • Number of stamps earned

    • Number of stars earned

    • Months you’ve been learning (since account creation)

    • Language Focus

    • Fluency Level

  • Avatar - adjust your avatar appearance in Immerse

  • Subscription - details about your active subscription with Immerse
