Changing Your Language Focus & Fluency Level

Updated today

Initial Selection of Your Language and Fluency Level

When you first create your account, either on the web app or in VR, you will select the language that you wish to learn (your target language) and take a proficiency test to find your fluency level. However, this can be changed at any time to allow you to take classes for any language and at any level!

Finding and Changing Your Language Focus

There are two ways to change the language you are learning in Immerse: from your Homeroom and from your account settings in the web app.

📢 Attention! You must change your language to view the schedule of lesson and any of your booked classes for other languages.

In the Homeroom

  1. Enter your Homeroom in VR, from a computer, or a mobile device (corporate learners only).

  2. Click > Profile Picture > Overview.

  3. Next to language Focus, click the “pencil icon” to make a change.

  4. Select a new language program.

  5. Click > Update to apply the change.

On the WebApp

  1. Log in to your account via the Web App.

  2. Click > Profile Picture > My Account > Account Info.

  3. Change your Language.

  4. Click > Confirm, then look for the Success message at the bottom right.

💭 What is the WebApp?

The WebApp is a landing page interface for non-corporate members where they can adjust account settings, see classes for all levels at once on the schedule, and launch the IMMERSE homeroom from. The WebApp has served as an interim solution, but we will soon be making it possible for individuals to access their homeroom without this necessary step. Stay tuned!]

ℹ️ Your Fluency Level at a Glance

You can see additional indications of your current fluency level in the following places:

  • Upcoming Live Class Tiles: If you can access Live Classes, look for floating "Upcoming Class" indicators.

  • Live Class Schedule: Each class card on the schedule page features a pill-shaped icon. This icon indicates the class level and its position (high or low) within that level.

Not sure if you're ready to move up? Try taking the Level Assessment Test first—it’s a helpful way to check if you’re prepared for a higher level.

💭 Why can't I change my fluency level?

Some corporate learners may have restrictions in place, especially when changing to a lower level. If you're unable to make changes, please consult your HR team or program administrator, or contact us at [email protected].

📢 Attention!

You must update your language and level to view lesson schedules and booked classes for other languages or levels.
