Changing Display & Translation Languages

Discover the distinctions between these two settings and learn how to adjust them independently to optimize your learning experience.

The IMMERSE app uses two distinct language settings: the display language and the translation language. Our team programs the display language, which controls the fixed elements of the app. Conversely, the translation language determines how dynamic content is presented through AI translation services.


User-Interface (UI) Display Language

The system display language controls the language of the IMMERSE app’s user interface, things like your menus, buttons, navigation labels, and system messages. These elements are carefully configured in-house by our localization experts and development team.

  • English (North American)

  • Spanish (Latin American)

  • French

  • Portuguese (Brazilian)

  • Japanese

Changing Display Language

👩🏼‍🏫 If you're confident in your second language skills, try switching your display language to it! This will help you test your fluency by seeing how well you navigate IMMERSE and discover new terms.

Before Logging In

You can change your display language on the login screens of both the WebApp and the Homeroom. Simply select your preferred language from the dropdown menu before entering your credentials.

After Logging In

After you’ve logged into the IMMERSE WebApp or the IMMERSE Homeroom there are several places from which you can change your display language. Including while in a Live Class or Community Scene! 🎉

WebApp Account Settings

📢 Note: This site (and therefore method) is only accessible to individual members subscribed to IMMERSE, that are unaffiliated with a corporate entity.

  1. Log in to the IMMERSE WebApp (app.immerse.online) on a computer or mobile device.

  2. Click > your profile icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Select > My Account from the dropdown menu.

  4. Go to the Account Info tab.

  5. Find the Display Language setting under Preferences.

  6. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  7. Click > Confirm, to save your selection and the page will refresh.

Homeroom Settings Menu

  1. Enter the IMMERSE Homeroom on computer or in VR.

  2. Click > the gear icon, next to your profile icon, to access the settings menu.

  3. Click > Display.

  4. Click > the pencil icon within the Display Language box

  5. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click > Update, to save your selection.

In-Scene Settings Menu

Computer

  1. Press > ESC on your keyboard, or click the button to the top left of your screen.

  2. Click > Settings > Display

  3. Click > the pencil icon within the Display Language box

  4. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click > Update, to save your selection.

  6. Click > ESC again to exit the menu.

VR

  1. Press X on your LEFT controller to open the settings menu.

  2. Click > Settings > Display

  3. Click > the pencil icon within the Display Language box

  4. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click > Update, to save your selection.

  6. Press X again to close the menu.

⚙️ Our Help Center and support articles are offered in English, Spanish, French, and Japanese at this time. To change between languages, choose from the drop down menu at the top right of the page.


Translation Language

The system translation language dictates the output language of any dynamic or AI-generated translations that appear within the IMMERSE app. This includes text translations and AI-generated responses in Self-Paced Lessons, as well as results from the Language Assist feature. Our integration of third-party generative AI APIs allows us to support more languages in these tools than are available through our standard display language options.

Changing Translation Language

Currently, your default translation language can only be adjusted after logging in to the IMMERSE Homeroom. This can be done from a computer or in VR. Once logged in, you have the option to change the language within the Homeroom, or during a Live Class or Community Scene.

Homeroom Settings Menu

  1. Enter the IMMERSE Homeroom on any device.

  2. Click > the gear icon, next to your profile icon, to access the settings menu..

  3. Click > Display.

  4. Click > the pencil icon within the Translation Language box

  5. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click > Update, to save your selection.

  1. Press > ESC on your keyboard, or click the button to the top left of your screen.

  2. Click > Settings > Display

  3. Click > the pencil icon within the Translation Language box

  4. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click > Update, to save your selection.

  6. Click > ESC again to exit the menu.

VR

  1. Press X on your LEFT controller to open the settings menu, or use the menu button on your left wrist.

  2. Click > Settings > Display

  3. Click > the pencil icon within the Translation Language box

  4. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click > Update, to save your selection.

  6. Press X again to close the menu.
