IMMERSE's Learning Model

Lessons in IMMERSE are designed based on communicative language teaching principles. These practices ensure an engaging, immersive experience that helps learners develop fluency in real-world contexts.

Communicative Language Teaching

Emergent Language

Emergent language refers to language that naturally arises in interaction between learners or between learners and Guides. This spontaneous language use supports more authentic communication.


IMMERSE Levels

When members register with IMMERSE, they take a proficiency placement test to determine the best level for their fluency. The test assigns a level automatically, but members can adjust their level manually at any time.

Available Levels:

  • English: Levels 1-6

  • Spanish: Levels 1-5

  • French & Portuguese: Levels 1-4

Members can freely take classes at any level, regardless of their placement.


Learning Opportunities in IMMERSE

Lessons

  • Available on both the Web App schedule and in VR.

  • Led by IMMERSE Guides and last 40 minutes.

  • Members must book in advance but can join unbooked sessions within the first 5 minutes if seats are available.

  • Maximum class size: 12 Members.

  • 30-minute reminder email sent before class.

  • Schedule available 2 weeks in advance.

  • Focused on specific learning objectives and real-world communication.

Practice Activities

Each learning outcome and lesson includes ~15 minutes of asynchronous practice activities. Some are created by expert Guides, while others are powered by AI.

Community Scenes provide immersive locations where you can practice independently or with other members.

  • No booking required – enter and practice anytime!

  • Solo or Group Practice:

    • Private mode – Use a private code to practice alone or with invited friends.

    • Public mode – Join a shared space with other learners.

  • Language-Specific or Multi-Language:

    • Language-focused rooms for targeted practice.

    • The Commons – an all-language exchange space

  • Accessible anytime - No booking. Simply enter and practice anytime!

  • Private or public - You can explore solo using a private code, share the private code to invite friends, or enter a public scene where anyone can join you.

Join this public area to meet new people from across ALL Language Programs and play language learning games! We are always adding new features and exciting games to this space.

We wish to invite all Immerse members to join us on our Community Facebook page. Our guides and hosts regularly post messages and special events such as gatherings, and you can find a training partner by posting on our page.
