Getting to Know Geo
Geo is a friendly globe companion designed to assist new members during their onboarding process on our platform and while learning. He's a virtual assistant who provides guidance and support as you navigate through your placement test, Homeroom, Self-Paced Lesson, Live Classes, and practice activities!
What is Geo's Purpose?
The main purpose of Geo is to help you get familiar with our platform and make your learning experience more enjoyable. He offers personalized advice on which activities to try next or areas where you can complete more practice. Geo also provides encouraging feedback and emotional support as you progress through your learning journey. He can even help answer tricky question by using the Language Assist tool.
Interacting with Geo
You will find Geo in many different locations throughout IMMERSE, performing various jobs in each area.
Onboarding and Signup
Geo is present from the very start, showing up as a guide to your signup experience.
In the Homeroom
Upon logging in or returning to your Homeroom, Geo will greet you warmly, generating excitement for your learning journey.

If you're new to IMMERSE, you may see Geo in your Homeroom showing a hand icon, signaling you to wave (in VR) or click (if on a computer) because he has a message to share!
On the Learning Path
Once each self-paced lesson in a section is complete, an optional review module is unlocked where Geo will help you check your skill-building progression before moving to the next section.
Placement Test Guidance
Geo provides clear instructions about how the placement test works, keeps you informed when scenarios change, and offers encouragement throughout the process to ensure you feel supported.
While Learning
You can summon Geo at any time while learning (in VR only). Follow the instructions below to show Geo in Live Classes or Community Spaces to access your Notes, Object List, AI Language Assist Feature, or Help Requests (used only in Live Classes).
VR Wrist Menu
Press > the “A” button on your right controller
Or press > Menu icon on your right wrist with your virtual finger
This will open Geo, displaying his menu options.

Geo will appear on Desktop only when using the AI Language Assist feature.

Geo is designed to provide helpful information and assist you in navigating IMMERSE. However, he is not designed to hold conversations or answer specific questions just yet outside of using the Language Assist Feature. If you have a question or need assistance, please reach out to our support team. In the meantime, our AI Avatars in Community Spaces make for great conversation partners.

Geo has a unique appearance and voice that is designed to be friendly and approachable. However, at this time, these features are not customizable. We are constantly working to improve Geo's appearance and voice to better serve our users.
Can I interact with Geo like a grabbable object in VR?
Can I interact with Geo like a grabbable object in VR?
Geo does not behave like a physical object at this time. This means he cannot be touched or manually manipulated in any significant way. However, when your VR Geo Menu is open (only in VR) you can grab and move him out of your field of view.
Can I deactivate, mute, or hide Geo?

Currently, there is no way to deactivate, hide, or mute Geo. We understand that some users may prefer not to use Geo or may find him distracting. If this is the case, please provide us with your feedback so that we can implement features in the future to give users more control over their experience.
Can other learners see and hear my Geo?
Can other learners see and hear my Geo?
You will be able to see a hologram of other (VR only) users’ Geo menus floating around (see the photo below). You may occasionally hear Geo come through their mic if their device is picking it up, but otherwise, they won’t hear him directly from IMMERSE itself. Users can mute others or themselves if they don’t want to hear mic feedback.
