There are several reasons why others in VR may not be able to hear you.
It's completely understandable to feel a bit discouraged if you run into a snag with your voice not recording in Self-Paced lessons or if others mention they can't hear you in a live scene. Good news! We have a number of quick, easy troubleshooting options you can try to get your headset voice detection working.
Quick Fixes
Resolving most audio or voice problems is straightforward and often requires checking only a few settings. Review the possible causes and quick fixes below, covering both the headset itself and settings within the IMMERSE app.
Within the Headset
Try turning up your headset audio using the volume rocker under the right-hand side of your Quest 2 headset.
You may have accidentally muted your headset audio before getting into the IMMERSE app.
While within the IMMERSE App, press the Oculus button on your right controller to open up your menu.
Click on the time and battery pill-shaped box next to your Meta profile picture to unmute the microphone.
You have not given "mic permissions" to the IMMERSE app.
The first time that you launch the application, a pop-up will ask you to give the app permission to access your microphone. If you deny access, you will receive reminder pop-ups asking you to give the app permission so others in IMMERSE can hear you.
To turn on "mic permissions":
Find the IMMERSE application tile in the Quest app menu.
On the IMMERSE tile, click on the three dots and choose Settings.
Toggle mic permissions "ON."
Within the IMMERSE App
You are muted within the platform
You may have accidentally muted yourself in the IMMERSE app.
Click the mic button on the inside of your left wrist to toggle mute
Alternatively, you can press the Y button on your left controller to quickly mute and unmute yourself, or go into your Quick Menu Settings tab
Your voice options settings are set too low
Default voice option settings may not be strong enough for the environment you are currently in. Turn up your voice detection sensitivity and background noise removal settings by opening the personal settings menu.
Press X on your left controller.
Click > Settings
Under Voice Options, slide the toggles to the right to increase
💡 Be sure to check if the quick fixes above resolved your voice detection issue by testing your microphone and playback audio in the Homeroom.
Launch your IMMERSE Homeroom.
Click the gear icon to the left of the profile picture.
The Microphone icon slider/bar next to the "mic icon" in your Microphone menu will move left and right when you speak if an input signal is successfully detected.
Click "Test Microphone" to run an audible test of your incoming audio/voice
Additional Troubleshooting
Please try the following if the quick fixes above did not resolve your problem:
Restart Your Headset
Uninstall and Reinstall the IMMERSE VR app
Try external headphones with a microphone to see if it’s an internal microphone issue
