App Update: December 18, 2021

Student Desktop:

This is particularly exciting update because it marks the launch of our student desktop experience! The student desktop experience now has all of the features and functionality to allow desktop students to fully participate in lessons just like VR students. Take a look at some of the new student desktop features:

Backpack

Students using the desktop application now have access to their backpack just like students in virtual reality. The parity between the student desktop and student VR experiences allows students to participate equally in lessons regardless of the technology they are using.

Animation Tool

We've implemented a few new animations that allow students on desktop to engage with their peers just like students in VR—desktop students can give thumbs up, high five, and fist bump, just like VR students. We've also made some updates to the animation panel to make it clearer when desktop students are playing an animation.

"Use" Function

We've added some additional "Use" functions to objects within Immerse.

Also, when students are holding an object, they can hold the Shift key and click their mouse (shift + click) to move the object in their hand. This feature is very useful for pouring liquids, swinging a baseball bat, or swinging a hammer on the desktop version of the app.

Cursor changes

Now students' cursors will change slightly based on what they are hovering over. This helps students understand what will happen when they click on different things like teleporters, seats, grabbables, clickables, paint tools.
